A double-pane window is two sheets of glass sealed around the edge with a spacer and filled with dry air or argon gas. Over 10 to 20 years, sun, temperature swings and Virginia humidity break down that seal. Can foggy windows be repaired without replacing them?
Yes. The fog is inside the sealed glass unit, so we replace that unit and keep your existing frame. The result looks and performs like new.
Why do my double-pane windows fog up?
The perimeter seal that keeps moisture out of the air space has failed. It is normal after 10–20 years, and sun-facing windows fail first.
Does defogging or drilling the glass work?
“Defogging” services drill holes to vent the unit. It may clear the haze temporarily, but the insulating gas is already gone and the fog usually returns. A new sealed unit is the only permanent fix.
How long does it take?
We measure within 24 hours of your call. Custom sealed units are usually installed within 7–10 days, and each window takes well under an hour on install day.
Can I upgrade the glass while I am at it?
